The "Church for people who don't like Church" Apostasy

Recently I saw an article about a "church" meeting at a bar, spawned by the Emergent Church movement. Now think about that, the true Church is the bride of Christ. Would you want your bride waiting for you on your wedding not at the Church alter but the Bar? I know actually some unbelievers might, but should a "Christian"?

My wife can tell you nothing gets my blood boiling like getting a flyer from one of these Churches. Usually made to look like a magazine, these fliers are sometimes even "smutty".  I received one flyer for a church near me that had the word sex written all over it to attract again "people who don't do church".  Many of the fliers talk about "no pressure", "dress in jeans", "no uptight religious people here!",  "free from the traditions that have become obstacles for ordinary people like you", or "we have a coffee lounge".  Many churches are now putting on a big show. I'm not kidding when I say I have heard of  services, not events mind you, but services with clowns, balloons, or secular songs that are man-centered like "The Climb" (recently sung at Saddle Back).

Another  problem with the Emergent-seeker sensitive church is the church model which is very man-centered.  It is based on how to be a better person, adopting the same philosophies as the Oprah Winfrey self-help gurus.
What is so interesting about this movement is that the Emerging Church sanctifies the culture. The Emerging church sanctifies the post-modern culture as if it is legitimate and says if we’re going to reach these people, we’ve got to become like these people. (John MacArthur).
I have even listened to sermons with pastors using very colorful language, very filthy language. Rob Bell has even been known to drop the f-bomb in preaching. Ephesians 5:4 tells us "Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks".

Are these churches really reaching people for Christ? Should the Church be un-offensive? While I understand that some Christians have been hurt by legalism (I don't blame some for wanting to run from it), I'm not talking about that here.  We need to look at what God says, not what we want from a church.  What God says the church is comes from his Word. First, let's look at what the Church is. Here is another link  that really does a great job breaking it down for us with Scripture.  http://www.gotquestions.org/what-is-the-church.html

Church isn't a building or a denomination. It is the body of true Christians. The word “church” comes from the Greek word ekklesia which is defined as “an assembly” or “called-out ones". Anyone who visits your church (as in the physical building) in the words of Paul, is an inquirer or unbeliever (1st Corinthians 14:24).

I'm not saying we shouldn't enjoy Church, we have special events at my own Church which are great for bringing in unbelievers.

So breaking down what "Church for people who don't like Church really is" and this is what should be offensive to the true Church is. "a Gathering for people who don't like the bride of Christ"
This is why I call it an Apostasy/Heresy. I know they would say well, "we Love Christ but I don't like Church". Can you imagine a friend who would say to you , I love you but I can't stand your wife! I don't know about you but we wouldn't be friends long.

The real bottom line issue is this:  it's the message from the pulpit. One only has to listen to the preaching from these pastors to realize they want to be liked.  They want big numbers. They don't want to share the Gospel because they don't want to talk about sin or the need to repent because it's unpopular with people who don't want to be born again or to change their lifestyle. In writing this, the Lord also reminded me about the good news! Pastors do have something wonderful to share! Yes, what can be better then to be saved from our sins and to be in God's presence for eternity.  We don't need to be entertained into the kingdom. God gives us so much more.

Let's look at Scripture:
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.   Ephesians 5:25-27
